“Measuring Creativity: Latent Variables and a Statistical Consultant”
Statistical consultants like to stay detached. When studying complicated phenomena, we must become more involved to better measure. My current role in assessment requires me to act as my own client. Attempts to measure creativity have been part of Psychometric research since the 1950s. Our university wanted to assess the creativity of its graduates to demonstrate successful graduation outcomes. Half-way through a three-year project, we are beginning our second iteration of measuring creativity. This talk will look at ways to measure creativity, and what I have learned from my dual role.
It will conclude with a discussion of upcoming decisions.
