"Genetic association analysis in family design:
statistical issue, analysis and interpretation"
Since human genome projects, many projects have been launched to identify the causal gene for common disease over the world. The study designs for genetic association analysis are usually family-based, population-based or mixed. In this talk, a review of statistical issue and analysis of genetic association studies in family design will be provided. The statistical issues cover the presence of correlations between family members and population stratification. Population-based approach and family (transmission)-based approach are introduced. They are illustrated in statistical sense and relative benefits of each approach are compared.
