Overview
The Institute of Statistics at Korea University was the first statistical research institute in Korea and established in 1975. This institute has top level research capabilities in various fields, including social science data analysis, statistical modeling of large volume data, survey design and analysis, mathematical finance, and biostatistics. The faculty of the Department of Statistics and doctoral researchers at the KU Institute of Statistics are conducting research using statistical theories and various application methodologies and are also engaged in disseminating statistics knowledge through lectures. In addition, the institute creates an academic atmosphere and research space for professors, researchers, and graduate students in statistics or relevant fields, and achieves industry-university-institute collaboration through its active participation in solving the practical statistical problems of various internal and external research institutes, relevant agencies, industries, and academia. In particular, the KU Institute of Statistics has achieved remarkable accomplishments in research and industry-university collaborations, such as winning the 2009 Best Grade KU Research Institute Award, and signing business agreements with the Korea Exchange Market Oversight Commission in 2014 and the ROK Army Headquarters Analysis Team in 2015.
